| We have a favor to ask of you - will you please take a minute to review the "Missing Persons" list at the bottom of this newsletter? If you know any of these people, please tell them to get in touch with RPM Direct - we miss them and want them to come back home! No really, we need to update our listings for these folks and with nearly 3,000 producers and engineers to look after it does, admittedly, get hard to keep track of everyone's comings and goings. Thanks in advance for your help! In other news, we're about to begin production on RPM Direct's print edition of our studio directory - this must have resource will include listings for thousands of studios - make sure your facility is listed! If you do not regularly receive this newsletter and would like to, please click here. If you have something to contribute, send it here. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Here's the lowdown: The private lounge attached to NRG's Studio A has been fully remodeled following the completion of "Meteora", the latest album from Linkin Park (Warner Bros.). The remodel includes a completely revamped contemporary kitchen with a large booth dining area. A luxurious ultrasuede couch now faces a sixty inch high definition television. Michelle Branch (Maverick) recently visited NRG's Studio A with producer Josh Abraham. Not only was Michelle Branch the number one selling artist of 2002, she also won a Grammy award for her collaboration with Carlos Santanna. Branch was at NRG working on tracks for her upcoming album. Lo-Pro is currently locked out in NRG's Studio B recording their debut album with producer Don Gilmore. The Southern California based band is the first band signed by Staind's Aaron Lewis to his imprint with Geffen president Jordan Schur. Lo-Pro was founded by former Ultraspank members Pete Murray (vocals) and Neil Godfrey (guitar). The two are joined in Lo-Pro by former Godsmack drummer Tommy Stewart and Pete Ricci (guitar). Jay Baumgardner is on a mixing streak once again, recently finished mixing new albums for Die Trying (Island Def Jam) and Rumblefish (Roadrunner) in NRG's Studio C. Die Trying is currently touring with Papa Roach and will soon tour with Evanescence. Their album is due out in June of this year. Rumblefish can be seen on tour with Molotov. These entries will be judged by a panel of industry experts in design and manufacturing. Multiple prizes will be awarded. Projects may include, but are not limited to: Loudspeaker designs; Electronic circuits; Audio or music software; microphones; musical instruments or anything that can be made for use in the audio field. Students who are working on these sorts of projects are encouraged to apply before September 13, 2003. Have your ingenuity reviewed by professionals. This is an opportunity to network with top audio designers and enhance your resume. This is not a competition for recording projects - there are separate fields for them - nor is this a call for theoretical papers. The band played their first gig in nearly five years on New Year's Eve at Seattle's Crocodile Cafe. They have continued to build momentum with select performances in recent months, including a powerful appearance at the 2003 SXSW conference to a crowd of 10,000 fans on Saturday, March 15th at Town Lake Stage in Austin, TX. The band's last show was a farewell gig at Seattle's Paramount Theater on January 31, 1998. The band has been further reinvigorated by regaining the rights to their multi-platinum debut album, which they own and had licensed to Sony Music for a seven-year term starting in 1995. The band will re-release the record, with the addition of brand-new songs, and a few other added surprises, in the summer of 2003. Now building on the sheer fun of playing together again, The Presidents are going into the studio in April to record new material. They are working with longtime collaborator Conrad Uno at Egg Studios in Seattle, WA. The band's multi-platinum eponymous debut was the result of the the same Uno/Egg combination. Guitarist Dave Dederer is excited to be back at Egg. "This is our place, our home court," says Dederer, "I mean, 'Egg Studios' sounds slick, but it's really just Conrad's really rockin basement. That's the kind of vibe we like. We made our first record there for less than $10,000, and it ended up selling tons. It is the right atmosphere and combination of people." ^BACK UP^ Massive Attack Will Headline The UK's 2003 Creamfields Festival It was recently announced that seminal UK act Massive Attack will be headlining this year's Live Outdoor Stage at Creamfields UK on Saturday 23rd August Bank Holiday weekend at the Old Liverpool Airfield.
